California’s Proposition 65 (the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) requires businesses to provide warnings to consumers about potential exposure to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. These warnings are intended to help customers make informed decisions.

Because Interior Illusions sells furniture, lighting, upholstery, and home décor products that may include materials regulated under Proposition 65, we are providing the following disclosures in accordance with California law.


Furniture-Specific Proposition 65 Disclosure

Many furniture products use materials or components that may expose individuals to Proposition 65–listed chemicals. These may include, but are not limited to:



Upholstered Furniture:

  • Foam cushioning (may contain flame retardants or chemical residues).

  • Fabric treatments or stain-resistant finishes.

  • Wood frames, plywood, veneers, or MDF that may contain formaldehyde or other wood-treatment chemicals.

Lighting & Electrical Products:

  • Wiring, cords, and electrical components that may contain phthalates or other regulated materials.

  • Painted or metal finishes.

Outdoor Furniture & Resin Products:

  • Plastics, resins, and UV-stabilized materials that may contain certain chemical compounds.

  • Coatings or sealants applied for weather resistance.

Because many furniture items contain or have been manufactured using one or more of these materials, Interior Illusions is required to provide Proposition 65 warnings on relevant products delivered, shipped, or sold to customers in California.


What This Means for Customers

A Proposition 65 warning does not mean that a product is unsafe.
These warnings are issued out of an abundance of caution to comply with California’s strict requirements regarding chemical disclosures. Many listed chemicals are commonly found in household items, and actual exposure levels are often well below levels that would pose a health concern.
